American Craft Beer Week

Monday started off American Craft Beer week, but I was unfortunately not able to participate due to a late night at work. After I got off yesterday, I was able to head to Capital Ale House in downtown Richmond for a steal-the-glass night with Breckenridge Brewery. They had their 471 Double IPA and Vanilla Porter on draft. I have been wanting to branch out and try porters ever since I had Hardywood Park’s Mocha Belgique, so I started off with the Vanilla Porter which I was pleasantly surprised with. I was expecting the vanilla taste to be overbearing, but I got more chocolate notes in the taste and vanilla in the finish. Not as complicated as Hardywood’s Mocha Belgique, but definitely enjoyable and worth a try. Of course being a hophead I had to end with the 471 which was a great way to finish off the day.

What will tonight bring for ACBW? Time will tell.
